The unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Milano-Bicocca comprises two full professors, two associate professors and three assistant professors, togheter with several collaborators (post-docs, Ph.D. students, research assistants). The unit, formally established in October 2012, has started in 1998.
The group activity focuses on both research and teaching.
The mission of the unit is to promote and apply quantitative methods in observational and clinical studies, developing novel statistical tools when needed in nonstandard settings.
The unit is involved in both undergraduate and graduate teaching, both at national and international level. Student supervision, seminars organizations, conference and meeting presentations represent a natural link between teaching and research.
From the beginning, the unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Public Health has been involved in research programs with several italian, european and american academic institutions, which resulted in collaboration based on national and european grants, ranging from pharmacoepidemiology to nutrition epidemiology. Current effort is on developing a european working group in causal inference in epidemiology.
