Short presentation of current research

Previous and Current research

His research focuses on several aspects of medical research methodology and on the application of statistical methods to observational and experimental studies. He contributes as an expert on epidemiological and statistical methods on numerous clinical research projects. In the last years, his research interests mostly focused on pharmacoepidemiological methods and study designs, as well as on the use of administrative electronic health records to conduct pharmacoepidemiological investigations.

In the last years, his research interests mostly focused on pharmacoepidemiological methods and study designs, as well as on the use of administrative electronic health records to conduct pharmacoepidemiological investigations.

He is currently the coordinator of the Unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Public Health in several pharmacoepidemiological projects, three of which funded by the European Union (ALERT Project: Early Detection of Adverse Drug Events by Integrative Mining of Clinical Records and Biomedical Knowledge; SOS Project: Safety Of non-Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; SAFEGUARD Project: Safety Evaluation of Adverse Reactions in Diabetes) and two of which in the context of independent research on drugs financed by the Italian Drugs Agency (BEST Project: Assessing the risk/benefit profile of bisphosphonates therapy in the secondary prevention of osteoporotic fractures; Pharmacological treatment in the elderly patient affected by cardiovascular disease and other chronic comorbidities: inappropriate prescribing and outcome evaluation among institutionalized and community-dwelling elders).
